Jonas Bros.

KJ just found out today that she is going to the Jonas Brother's concert! Yay!!! Her very first concert! Unfortunately, it's not until August! I don't know if she can wait that long. Her friend Gabby asked her to go and Gabby's mom is handling the tickets. KJ told me that she hopes they sit close enough so Nick Jonas can sweat on her. Eeewww. I don't think that's going to happen. I think this is about the same age T-bone started to have a little crush on Aaron Carter and I had to endure 2 back-to-back Aaron Carter concerts. Oh, the horror!

So this is dance team try-outs week. Please, please, please keep your fingers crossed for T and say a little prayer, too! She has totally been working her ass off all week (and her ass really wasn't that big to start!). Monday they learned their jazz routine, Tuesday they learned their kick-line and Wednesday they learned their hip-hop routine. Sunday afternoon T & Katie had a private lesson @ the dance studio. Monday night T had a couple of girls over to practice in the garage. Last night they went to another girls house to practice and tonight I took her & Katie up to the studio to practice w/ Ms. Shannon. Tomorrow is a "mock" audtion and then Friday afternoon is the real deal. Tonight the girls told me that if you make the team, the older girls "kidnap" you and take you back to the High School for a party. It's supposed to be a big secret but they do it every year and that's how you know if you made the team. God, please let my doorbell ring Friday night!

It has been raining cats & dogs all day. Reminds me of a joke my friend Gina used to tell when we were very, very little (like first grade). One guy says to another guy, "It's raining cats & dogs outside!" The other guy says "Oh yeah?? How can you tell??" The first guy says, "Cuz I just stepped in a poodle!" Get it??? A Poodle! I used to think that was the funniest joke I ever heard!

T was supposed to play Vestavia tonight but it was cancelled due to the weather. KJ is supposed to have her first softball game Thursday night and her first lax game Friday. Honestly, I hope it pours the rest of the week so everything will be called off!

P.S. Special Birthday shout-outs to my brother-who-shall-not-be-named. My baby bro's 35 today. I remember the day they brought him home from the hosital.

Parents, your kids aren't that special

Miss Me??

We're back from a very nice, very relaxing couple of days on the beach. This was my first time in Destin for Spring Break and we had a wonderful time. Other than to eat, we barely left the beach. We just sat for hours and vegitated.

We drove down in 2 cars on Tuesday and Chris came home Thursday for some meetings he had on Friday. The girls & I drove home Saturday afternoon. Our condo was very nice, right on the beach and the weather was incredible the entire time we were there. The water extremely chilly but KJ didn't care. She was in the water from the minute she woke up until we dragged her out for dinner. There was actually times she was the only one in the water for miles and miles.

Tuesday was St. Patrick's day so we went to Pat O'Brien's for a couple of hurricanes and walked along the water for a bit looking at boats. People were throwing beads at the kids and the atmosphere was fun. We had dinner at the Lucky Snapper and enjoyed an incredible sunset from the restaurant.
Wednesday night we at at Fudpuckers and went to "The Track" where Chris & the girls rode go-karts. Chris left Thursday after lunch and the girls & I went to the Back Porch for dinner and took KJ to have an air brush t-shirt made (gotta have an air brush t-shirt when you go to the beach!). On our way out of the Back Porch T ran into a couple of girls she knew and they made plans to get together on Friday. Friday morning KJ stayed w/ our friends while I drove half-way to Pensacola to pick-up Austin and his buddy Taylor. On the way back I picked up Kate & Brittany. The kids hung out on the beach and had lunch. I drove them back to their condo's around 3 PM.

That night the girls & I had dinner at the Crap Trap. We got up Saturday morning around 9:30 AM, packed up the car and stopped at the Hard Rock Cafe on our way home. We made pretty good time until we hit I-65. Lots of traffic around Pelham so I got off in Helena and made my way home from there. Thank God for the Garmin. I am totally "directionally challenged" and really love my GPS!

Spring Break

This family has done it's fair share to help stimulate the local economy the last couple of days. We've done a lot of shopping and some eating out as well.

Friday, KJ had a couple of friends sleep over. I was a little nervous about 3 girls (you know the saying -- 2's a crowd, 3's company) but they did very, very well and played great together. T hung out w/ Austin at his house for a while.

Saturday I took T shopping. We started off at the Kohl's on 280. T never buys anything in that store. I bought 2 pairs of capri pants for spring break. We then moved on to Target where T ended up buy 3 bikinis. She actually ended up w/ move than that because she can totally mix & match all the tops & bottoms for many different looks. After Target we went to Francesca's at the Summit and she bought a long maxi dress w/ a gift card she rec'd for Christmas. We went on to Old Navy and T bought some flip-flops to match the bathing suits she found (flip-flops were 2 pairs for $5!). While we were out shopping, Chris & KJ ran a few things up to the lacrosse store, bought KJ a new softball gloves and bought supplies to tie-dye t-shirts. We all met at our favorite Mexican restaurant for dinner (and mango margaritas!).

Last night Chris & KJ tie-dyed t-shirts. At first we thought KJ's shirt was going to just be a big black goop mess because the dye was just dripping off the shirt and not absorbing at all (we somehow missed the part of the instructions that said to wash the shirts first). KJ's shirt turned out great and she'll wear it at the beach as a cover up.

This morning KJ & I were supposed to go shopping but she said she didn't feel like it. Well, as we were trying to pack for spring break she realized she didn't have any clothes or any bathing suits that fit her. Sooooo, we ended up running to Justice @ Patton Creek where KJ bought 3 bathing suits. I also took her over to Old Navy to look for capri pants or shorts but the selection was very, very slim. She bought flip-flops to go w/ each of her bathing suits and a t-shirt.

Chris made an awesome lunch/dinner for us today (on Sunday's we eat a late breakfast and then a late lunch/early dinner). Chris is doing yard work and I'm trying to catch up on my TiVo.

One of my new favorite reality shows of the season is "Running in Heels" on the Style Network. It's kind of "Devil Wears Prada." Three girls are interns at Marie Claire magazine. Although some of their day-to-day is glamours and exciting, a lot of it is total grunt work. This is the industry T would like to be in so this has been interesting for her to watch.

She shoots, She scores!!!

Last night I took KJ to her softball practice and Chris took T to her lacrosse game vs. John Carroll. I brought Trixie to the fields w/ me and she ran around and was just her usual cute little self. Chris texted me that the score of T's game was tied up 3-3 and she scored the first goal of the game. Then he texted and said she scored again. A few minutes later he texted that she had a hat trick! 3 goals for T-bone! Of course, mom's not there so she scores! Typical obstinate teen-ager.

I can't believe it's only Tuesday

This week seems to be dragging -- it's only Tuesday. I think turning the clocks ahead has totally screwed everyone up.

We've been so busy the last couple of days. I'm not sleeping good again, therefore, I am exhausted during the day. The house is a mess and laundry is piling up. I've been trying to catch up and not doing a good job.

Friday KJ spent the night at her friend Gabbi's house and T went to the movies w/ ME. I was glad to see T & ME doing something together. Between T's dance and lax and ME's v-ball they don't get to see much of each other.

Saturday AM Chris's varsity spanked John Carroll (11 AM). They didn't play so great the first half but ended up w/ a big win. He did a lot of yelling the first half. KJ and I left the game early to take her to her first lax practice of the season (12:30 PM). She was happy to see the girls again. Chris took T to her lax game vs. Huntsville (2 PM) and KJ & I met them there. The varsity girls lost 9-7. T played well but didn't score. From there I took T shopping for Sara's b-day present and Chris took KJ to her softball practice (3 PM). It was a crazy, crazy day! KJ was totally and completely exhausted and took a long bubble bath. Chris took T & Austin to Sara's party and then went to scout the John Carroll/Capt. Shreve game.

Sunday Chris's varsity played Capt. Shreve from Louisiana and won something like 15 or 16 to 2. What a difference in weather from last Sunday in the snow! We brought Trixie to the game and KJ dragged her everywhere. She loves to be outside (the dog, not necessarily KJ).

After Chris's game I took T spring break clothes shopping. She did really, really great and we didn't fight at all over the length of her shorts. I hate when girls wear really short shorts. It's just inappropriate. Unfortunately, that's all that's in the stores. She bought 2 pairs of shorts at the Pink store (one is a pair of black high-waisted, one pair denim cut-offs). She bought khaki cargo capri's and a pink bikini w/ peace signs all over it. She also bought another pair of shorts and a pair of denim capri's at Forever 21.

Last night I dropped T off at her lax practice and then KJ & I ran over to Mt. Brook. Both JV & Varsity played. I hate playing at the Mt. Brook Sports Park. I just hate the field and I have bad memories of several games gone bad. I also hate it because there are no bleachers so you have to bring a lawn chair and sit on top of each other. The player's parents are all sitting close together and sometimes it gets ugly on the sidelines. Anyhoooo, we got there in the 3rd quarter and JV was up. Then Mt. Brook caught up and the game was tied w/ just seconds left in the game. We all thought the game was going to go into over-time (I think all of the JV games have gone into double over-time so far this season). Ryan Washer scored the game winning goal. He's been playing very, very well this spring. The varsity game was good until the 4th quarter. Hoover was up the entire game and then Chad Porter hit one of the Cox twins from Mt. Brook. I didn't see the hit so I'm really not sure what happened but apparently it was a "clean" hit but kind of low. Crawford was jumping up or something and Chad was actually trying to avoid him and somehow Crawford flipped in the air and landed on his back. The ambulance came and took him away. After that, the game was quite subdued and Hoover ended up winning.

Tonight is crazy dance night and I think I might go to the JV game vs. the inner city "Magic" team while the girls are at dance. Austin plays tonight and I'll go and heckle him. He and his mom came to T's game on Saturday and I think he was surprised at T's athletic ability. He told her he had no idea she was so fast.

Spring Break

really starting to look forward to Spring Break. It's been a long winter and it feels even longer because we didn't go away for Christmas. Feel like we've been in the house a long time. The weather is supposed to start warming up the rest of this week. We should be in the 70's by the end of the week.

News Flash about Daughter #2: She loves celebrity gossip! It's so funny! When most kids go grocery shopping w/ their mom's they bug them for candy or crappy cereal. My daughter bugs me for "teen" magazines (I think one of them is called "Twist"). She reads it from cover to cover the minute we get home and then casually drops gossip into our daily conversations. I.e., "Miley Cyrus's favorite color is purple." "Michael Jackson is dying." "Zack & Vanessa have been going out for ......" "Selena Gomez & Demi Lovato blah, blah, blah."

Time Flies when You're Having Fun

My back deck @ 6:15 AM

KJ at the lacrosse game sitting w/ the Washer family because they had a portable propane heater! (that's her in the smiley face blankie)

Some more photos of the snow! Don't know why I haven't blogged in a while. Guess I've just been busy.
The big news this weekend was the weather. Friday we had crazy thunder storms and had a small tornado touchdown in Chelsea. Sunday morning we woke up to snow (and quite a bit of it!). I woke up w/ the dog around 6:15 AM and grabbed the camera. When I got back into bed, Chris asked Is There Snow??? I said, Oh Yeah!! Around 7:15 AM he made a snowball, yelled up the steps for KJ to get out of bed and when she got to the top of the steps, he threw the snowball at her! She was so excited she ran out onto the deck w/ no shoes on! Trixie loved the snow and was really cute. The girls played outside for a while and then we went to the High School for a crazy day of lacrosse!

JV played at 10 AM and at times, it was almost a complete white-out. It was nuts! A bunch of dads had to keep shoveling the sports grass. I don't know how those kids did it. Had it been any other team, the game would have been re-scheduled. The other team was from Houston, TN (Memphis area) and had driven down for the weekend to play us and Mt. Brook (they beat Mt. Brook Saturday night in the rain but lost to us in the snow Sunday). Both JV & Varsity played great. The Varsity game started at Noon and it had stopped snowing by that time but the wind had picked up.
