Profile Update

I've lived back in Maryland for over 15 months now. It's a new year and I think it's time to update my blog profile. The profile I've had for years and years.

Transplanted Yankee raising 2 beautiful daughters and a hubby on a never-ending search for a decent bagel and a slice a pizza in the South. Short and sassy, loyal, funny, slightly sarcastic, practically blind, 40-ish, loves to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. According to one of my children, I like to wear make-up and party. Still madly in love with (and married to) my high school sweetheart. Samantha Brown has my dream job. I like margaritas, can't stand coconut or banannas. I will do anything for a friend in need. Just don't mess with my family. I'm very, very protective. Pretty much a non-BS kind of gal; I have no patience for drama, ignorance or stress-inducing activities or behavior.

Let's break it down a bit:

Yup.  Still considered a Yankee.
Yup.  Still raising 2 beautiful daughters and a hubby.
My search for a decent bagel and a decent slice of pizza has been successful.
Yup.  Still short.
Yup.  Still sassy.  And extremely loyal, funny, slightly sarcastic and practically blind.
40-ish is debatable.
Yup.  Still love love to read, travel and spend time with my family and friends.
Yup.  Still wear make-up.
Yup.  Still madly in love with (and married to) my high school sweetheart.
Yup.  Still like margaritas
Coconut or banannas will never touch these lips.
Yup.  I will do anything for a friend in need.
Yup.  I'm still a Mama Bear.
Yup.  Still have no patience for drama, ignorance or stress-inducing activities or behavior.

So basically I'm still the same person I've always been, just live in a different town.

Do NOT Mess with Mama Bear

If you haven't seen this already, holy cow. I don't know if this 18-year old girl was crazy, a hero or a protective mama but DAMN!!!

http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/01/05/9968356-no-charges-for-teen-widow-who-killed-intruder

Here's my favorite part of the whole story:

McKinley told KFOR-TV the slain intruder had also showed up at her door on Dec. 29, the day of her husband's funeral. This actually blew my mind . . . 18-years old, mother to an infant and already a widow -- her husband was 58 and passed away from cancer complications. Did I read that right? 58???

When he came again on New Year's Eve, she said she grabbed her son and "walked over and got the 12-gauge, went in the bedroom and got the pistol and put the bottle in his mouth and then I called 911," she told KOCO. This girl was cool as a cucumber. Blocks the door with the couch, gives the baby a bottle and asks the dispatcher if it's "OK" to shoot him if he comes in the door. Um hell yeah. It's more than OK.

The 911 operator asked McKinley to confirm that her doors were locked. The young mother said yes, and asked if it was all right for her to shoot the man if he were to enter her house, KOCO reported.

McKinley said she asked the dispatcher, "I've got two guns in my hand -- is it OK to shoot him if he comes in this door? I'm here by myself with my infant baby, can I please get a dispatcher out here immediately?" She's got a gun in both hands, shoots and kills one and scares the crap out of the other. You Go Girl.
