Warning!!!! The following material may be explicit!!!

NOTE TO SELF . . . Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, take a 13-year old shopping for jeans and shoes. She can wear some of her father's old things, she can make her clothes in home ec (or whatever the hell they call it these days) or she can just tie some shoe boxes to her feet. I repeat, do NOT, take a 13-year old shopping for jeans and shoes.

Cousin Al

Well, at least I know my cousin Al reads my blog daily. She should be studying or finding a cure for cancer or something like that but hey! If she wants to procrastinate each day, who am I to step in her way????
P.S. We've looked for you on Facebook and can't find you.
Did some shopping after playschool today at Smith's Variety in downtown Mt. Brook. I love that store! They carry Vera Bradley, scrapbooking supplies, greeting cards, wrapping paper and everything else in between. They carry toys, Madame Alexander dolls, luxurious soaps, beautiful and fun dishtowels, aprons, etc. I always describe it as an upscale Woolworth's or Ben Franklin's. I've gotten smart in my old age and have totally learned to take advantage of stores when they offer free gift wrap! If I've done my calculations correctly, I should have to wrap less than half of my gifts this year. Several items are gift cards and several other items I've had wrapped right at the store. Go me!!!

Just have to work on my cards now. And the tree. The Christmas tree isn't up yet.

Christmas is Officially here!

We rec'd our first Christmas card of the 2007 season today (it technically arrived Saturday but no one remembered to get the mail yesterday so we didn't open the card until Sunday). Congratulations to the Smith family of Birmingham, AL! They were this year's winners! Their winning Christmas card was a wonderful compilation of warm holiday sentiments, excellent penmanship, and a crisp, clear beautifully photographed family portrait. Kudos!
P.S. Okay, I'm being a "little" bit sarcastic here. My cards are still in the unopened boxes and I have no stamps. Who am I kidding? These cards will be lucky to leave Alabama on Christmas Eve! Maybe next year I'll just do "Happy New Year" cards instead!
Working at the store this afternoon while Chris has all-star practice. I was able to remember everything he showed me the other day. Hopefully I rang up the credit card correctly.

KJ is at scout's. Today the troop is making build-a-bears for sick kids at Children's Hospital. Not sure exactly when the girls are supposed to take the bear's to the hospital but I don't know how KJ would handle that. She's never been around a seriuosly ill child before. I'm not sure she's even ever been IN a hospital (except when she was born and when T got stitches in her chin at Children's Hospital 3 years ago). KJ has never been to a funeral, either.

Got a pretty good night's sleep. Went to church and YES, all 4 walls are still standing. I can't remember the last time I've been to church . . . 2 or 3 years ago maybe?

Thanks Sparky!

Chris & KJ put up the outside lights late this afternoon. He did a lot of yardwork and ran a bunch of errands prior to decorating. He had to get some extension cords and some more lights. I thought he was just running down to Home Depot but the next thing I know, he's calling from Costco and wants to know if I'd like some shrimp scampi for dinner. Never, ever send Chris to Costco. He came home w/ the shrimp scampi, a new set of towels (???) and a HUGE popcorn cart (???). What the hell?

Clark: Our holidays were always such a mess.
Clark Sr.: Oh, yeah.
Clark: How'd you get through it?
Clark Sr.: I had a lot of help from Jack Daniels
KJ has a little school performance this week. I'd like to know which dumb-ass decided the 2nd graders should dress up as Egyptians. For those of us "non-crafty" mom's, do you realize how difficult it is to come up w/ this stuff? I don't sew and I don't have an imagination. Maybe KJ will be sick that day.
Just sitting here waiting for my popcorn. Have a great weekend!
