Museum of Natural History Pics

So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that Kendall had a good time w/ her dad today in the city. Despite the bad weather and their flight being delayed, everytime I spoke w/ her she was having a blast. Last I heard from them, they were looking for a place to have dinner (Mars 2112 is apparently closed on Monday's). They also got to FAO Schwarz too late but she did go in or at least see the American Girl store (that part wasn't very clear).
She loved the Museum of Natural History and said the big blue whale was "freaky." Not sure if that's good or bad or just plain freaky. I know she bought a new hoodie at the Museum Store.

On a different note I spoke w/ Pop earlier tonight (5:30 - ish my time). He sounded really good just a touch groggy and he said his mouth is very, very dry. He said he was feeling good overall, just a little sore and uncomfortable. Mom said he was doing well. He hasn't had anything to eat since midnight Sunday night. He is expected to go home Tuesday after he's had something to eat and keep it down. He can start driving Thursday a little bit. No heavy lifting for a while.

Time for bed! Goodnight KJ! I miss you & love you. Goodnight Chris! I miss you & love you! XOXOXO

Kendall woke up super good this morning. Not sure if she set her alarm or if she just never fell asleep. Unfortunately, their flight was delayed an hour and a half. Last I heard the weather was a little crummy in NYC so they were headed to the Museum of Natural History. We had a bad connection and I really couldn't hear Chris that well. I'm sure I'll get a full update later tonight. Chris is just gonna die . . . Kendall & I snuck the big styrofoam Statue of Liberty crown from an old Halloween costume in her luggage. You can bet that child will be walking around Manhattan looking like the biggest, goofiest tourist on the planet! Maybe she should try to get on the Today Show w/ Al Roker like I did when we were in the Bahamas!

Pop is out of Surgery

Stephen called at 3 PM Central Time. Pop is out of surgery and in recovery. The doctor spoke w/ my mother & Stephen briefly and felt confident they got everything. Dad should be in recovery an hour or so more and Steve will call me later. Not sure if my mom is driving all the way home tonight or is staying w/ Mike & Jodi.

Kendall is all packed and ready to go!

She's SO excited about her trip! She's all packed and was in bed fairly early because of their 6:30 AM flight out of B'ham. Not sure how much sleep she's actually going to get, she's too worked up. Maybe she'll sleep on the plane. Cousin Lisa is a 3rd Grade teacher and may take Kendall to school with her on Tuesday. Kendall was sort of like "school??? I'm on vacation!" but is warming up to the idea.

She's a pain in the butt and never stops talking but I'm sure I'll miss her horribly while she's gone. Inside I'm laughing because I know she's going to drive Chris insane for 3 days. I have a feeling he'll be wearing his earphones on the plane to drown her out.

To all you ladies in the house, check out this website: www.sportswidow.com
I saw this widow on one of the news channels today and we instantly bonded. Did you know that one football season equals over 900 hours of television time (or 37 days). That's a LOT of time our men are wasting on football, not to mention Fantasy Football. The average man spends at least 45 minutes a day organizing his line-up and over an hour a day just THINKING about his fantasy football team. No offense, but that's just gay!!! (not that there's anything wrong with being gay!!)

Sunday Morning

Sleep that knits up the ravelled sleave of care
The death of each day's life, sore labour's bath
Balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course,
Chief nourisher in life's feast.
-- William Shakespeare

Slept really good last night and Chris let me sleep late this morning. Not sure what time he left this morning to paint the store. I heard the shower running but not much else after that. He was having lots of help this morning: Scott & Haden Smith, Eric C, Dave Link. I think I'll just stay away from all that testosterone.

I've got to do some laundry and pack for KJ's trip to NYC. She is SOO excited. If it rains, they will go to the Museum of Natural History. If it's a decent day, they may do more of a walking/driving tour: the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center, she really wants to go to FAO Schwarz and American Girl, too. She's also been reading the Eloise books lately and wants to see her portrait at the Palm Court in the Plaza. She also wants to eat at Mars 2112 in Times Square. I told her she needs to make sure she gets a pretzel from a street vendor.

Taylor had a b-day party last night and spent the night at a friend's house. Not sure what time we'll see her today. Whatever will T & I do w/out Chris & KJ in the house for 3 days??? Hmmmmm.....

Please keep my dad in your thoughts . . . his surgery is Monday.

Youth Football has Started

"All women are created equal...then a few become cheerleaders!"

"To cheer or not to cheer? What a stupid question!!"

The Hoover 75 lbs. team had the 9 AM game this morning versus Clay/Chalkville. Hoover won 26-7. Very hot this morning but the girls put on a happy face and cheered well. Our half-time music pooped out on us but the girls still did a great job!

After the game Chris, Kendall & I went to the Tip Top Grill for lunch and some quiet time. I took T to the mall this afternoon to buy a present for her friend's b-day party tonight (our usual Hollister gift card!). Chris & Kendall are headed over to the new store to do some spackling before Sunday's big paint party. Carpet is to be installed this week so things are shaping up nicely. FaceOff Alabama is expected to have it's Grand Opening on September 22. Keep your fingers crossed!!!
