KJ in NYC

KJ's flight arrived around 7 PM Sunday night.  As many times as she's been in the city, she still crossed a lot of things off her bucket list and was able to do and see so much:  Strawberry Fields, the Balto statue in Central Park, the Alice In Wonderland statue, the fountain from the opening credit of Friends, Bethesda Fountain, Times Square, Freedom Tower, a Broadway play (Sponge Bob!), Lincoln Center, the subway, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Staten Island Ferry, Battery Park, Central Park Zoo, The Empire State Building, etc.  She said it was so weird for her.  She's been traveling to NYC since she was a baby but it was always at Christmas time so we did "holiday" things -- FAO, The Christmas Show @ Radio City, the Tree @ Rockefeller Center, Christmas windows, Tiffany's, Columbus Circle Holiday Market, Bryant Park.

Next up for this knucklehead:  Iceland!

It's a Boy!!!

This morning's announcement from Kensington Palace:

Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs.

The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz.

The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth.

Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well.

So exciting!  Let the naming begin!  I correctly predicted the name "George" when he was born, I didn't have any favorites when Charlotte was born but I'm going with "James Phillip" or "Phillip James."  Maybe throw in an "Albert" or "Alfred" for good measure.

I especially like this little tidbit:  "The birth weight of Will and Kate's second son makes him the heaviest royal baby to be born in over 100 years. In addition to being heavier than both of his siblings -- Prince George weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces at birth, while Charlotte weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces -- the unnamed newborn is also heavier than his grandfather Charles, father William and uncle Harry when they were born."

Seriously.  These two are just too darn cute.  Especially Charlotte.

Next up . . . Harry and Meghan!  I've already ordered my official tea towel and my official teacup.  There will definitely be a viewing party at my house.  I remember waking up early to watch Charles and Diana, I watched William and Kate and I won't miss Harry!

All I can say is . . .

...if Friday had a face I would kiss it.

This has been a super crazy week at work and I can't wait to get out of the office.  We had a client event Wednesday night and I'm still recuperating.  I don't drink at client events so it wasn't that I was hung over or anything, it was just a lot of work.  I mean a lot.  I got home late and that threw my whole sleep cycle (which is "delicate" to begin with!) off and I didn't fall asleep until 4 AM.  And the alarm clock went off at 6.  So Thursday I was working off 2 hours of sleep and it wasn't pretty.  My eyes were so red and I had the worst bags.  I was a complete Zombie that day.  Fortunately I was cozy in bed by 9:30 PM Thursday and slept great.  I feel good today and definitely have more energy than yesterday!

KJ had a fabulous time @ Prom last weekend despite the crazy wind and extremely cold, unseasonable temps!  Her hair and make-up looked gorgeous, her dress was perfect on her (a couple of gay guys told her "your boobs look FANTASTIC!"), they had a wonderful dinner at 3 Forks, on to Prom @ the Hyatt Regency and then went to a post-prom party.  Next weekend we'll be at our Girl's weekend and the following weekend is FloMo's prom.

KJ arrived in NYC safe and sound and is (obvi) having the time of her life.  Last night they saw Sponge Bob on Broadway and walked around Times Square.  Today they had real New York pizza, black & white cookies and rented bikes in Central Park.  Say what you want but Cos girls know how to have fun!

In other news, my roses (well, technically they are Cosmo's roses because he's really the one that takes care of them) look fabulous this spring!  Cosmo did some maintenance and they came back with a vengeance!  Very lush, very full, very beautiful deep rich color.  One rose bush is a vibrant pink, the other two are a deeper pink. I'm so ready to get my patio décor out but the weather has been less than stellar the last couple of weekends.  And apparently this weekend is supposed to be ugly, too.

Blogger Blah

I really, really want to get back into blogging on a more consistent basis but my poor blog needs so much work!  The designer I originally used is no longer in business and I guess either her Photobucket account or my Photobucket account has expired, ergo, no photos or graphics!

So, I'm at the point now where I need to decide if I want to scrap Make Mine a Cosmo entirely and start over with a whole new blog or work on getting Make Mine a Cosmo to where I want it.  It would be easier to just start from scratch but I really enjoy reading some of my old posts and seeing photos of the kids when they were younger, looking back at what we had going on in our lives at that time, etc.

Spring into Summer Already???

Busy as a bee the next couple of weeks.  I think we're are booked until July and then August will be taken over with moving KJ to Ole Miss and all the good stuff that comes with that . . . shopping, packing, unpacking, etc.

Tomorrow is Marcus' prom and I love KJ's dress.  It's very casual, very flowy and has a pretty print.  She is also going to Flo Mo's prom May 5 and I love that dress, too!  It's a V-neck, more streamlined silhouette, with tiers.  She's getting her hair and make-up professionally done again this year for her  prom, not sure what she's doing for Flo Mo's.

Although she had senior photos done last year a couple of times last year (at the studio the yearbook uses for those dorky cap and gown pics) and with a local studio, we wanted some fun things for her graduation announcements.  Her friend Averie is really into hair and make-up and her sister Madison took the pics earlier this week at TWU and they came out awesome!  I kinda like them more than the expensive fancy professional portraits I paid an arm and a leg for!

Next Friday she leaves for NYC for a few days and the week after that we're having our girls weekend in Ox with friends.  Coach has some traveling to do this month and next and we also have Freshman Orientation @ Ole Miss in May.  Graduation is mid-June so I've taken some vacation days to be with my family and then the girls leave for Iceland for 10 days.  KJ will be spending some time in B'ham with T again this summer.  Coach has already bought their Slossfest tixs.  She luvs, luvs, luvs having an older sister with her own apartment.

T has been keeping busy this spring, too.  They've gone camping a few times, she had a bachlerette party in Nashville, she's getting ready to move into a house, etc.

Time for an Update

When I first started this blog many, many moons ago, the following was my profile info:

Transplanted Yankee raising 2 beautiful daughters and a hubby on a never-ending search for a decent bagel and a slice a pizza in the South.  Short and sassy, loyal, funny, slightly sarcastic, practically blind, 40-ish, loves to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends.  According to one of my children, I like to wear make-up and party.  Still madly in love with (and married to) my high school sweetheart.  Samantha Brown has my dream job.  I like margaritas, can't stand coconut or bananas.  I will do anything for a friend in need.  Just don't mess with my family.  I'm very, very protective.  Pretty much a non-BS kind of gal; I have no patience for drama, ignorance or stress-inducing activities or behavior.

I guess it's high time for a refresh.

Some things haven't really changed.  I'm still short and sassy, still loyal, still can't see for sh*t, still love to read, still love to travel.  Still in love with my wonderful husband.  Still hate coconut and bananas but love a good margarita.  Still can't stand drama and stupid people.  Still very, very protective.

Some things have changed.  A lot.  I'm no longer "slightly" sarcastic.  I am full-on sarcastic and make no apologies for it.  Not sure if I'm still in the South.  Is Texas considered the South?  Mid-West?  Or is Texas just Texas?  Does Texas stand on its own???  I am no longer 40-ish.  I am now 50.  No ish.  Just 50.

Some things are new.  For instance, I can now add "paddle boarding" as one of my hobbies.  I'd like to buy my own SUP this summer.  I can also add "kick-ass Catering Sales Manager" under the career section of my profile.  And soon I'll be able to add "Proud Member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution."  I guess I should probably also add "amateur genealogist" while I'm at it.  And, within the next couple of months, I can add "happy empty nester!"
