People Magazine's Sexiest Man of the Year

Ok . . . I really don't like Sarah Silverman and I'm not condoning her comedy routine/act but her YouTube video w/ Matt Damon is hysterical. Matt Damon cracks me up throughout the entire video. His facial expressions are priceless.

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night! (please sing in your best Bay City Roller's Voice)

Busy, fun evening. We were on our way to the Iguana Grill for dinner when Chris spotted a huge black smoke cloud around the 459 overpass. Sure enough, something was on fire down on 459 and as we passed over it on the overpass, you could actually feel the heat thru our car. I'm freaked out to drive over that overpass now. I swear the integrity of the structure has been compromised and I'll freak out whenever I drive on it. Maybe I'll just close my eyes and drive really, really fast! I have a deep fear of bridges as it is, so this is not really going to help the situation.

Had an awesome dinner at the Iguana Grill and then went to Dicks for sporting goods (duh! what else?? no lacrosse equipment, though!). We seemed to have all bought some form of UnderArmor. We dropped T off @ the movies w/ friends and I realized I didn't have my phone w/ me. KJ had used it at the restaurant to call some friends to sleep over and she must have left in on the table rather than give it back to me. So, we had to drive all the way back to Iguana Grill and then drive back over the creepy overpass.

Guess I'll have to do my darndest to get KJ to Sunday school in the AM. We ran into her teacher at dinner. If we don't show up, she may think I had too many margarita's w/ dinner and I'm too hung over to get my kids to Sunday school.

All Laxed Out and No Place to Go

Chris had practice at 9 AM this morning, T had a scrimmage at 12 noon at Birmingham-Southern and KJ had 2 PM practice. The sun was shining and it felt good to be outside but it was a little chilly when the wind blew.

T had some awesome moves today. She's playing really well. Today's scrimmage was for the benefit of training referees so there were girls from all the different high schools. T knew a couple of them from Fall Ball but most of them passed the ball to girls on their own squads. Not sure how KJ did, I stayed at T's game. KJ looks so cute in her goggles and mouthpiece.

T needs a new pair of sneakers and has no sweatpants to wear to practice. She's also going to need something to wear under her lacrosse skirt. I always thought they wore a skort but it's a skirt (which is dumb if you ask me). KJ also needs a new UnderArmor shirt so as soon as Chris & KJ get home we'll all head down to Academy or Dicks for some new stuff.

I think the plan is to grab a bite to eat at Iguana Grill. MMMMMM. My favorite. Mango Margaritas. They also have this steak dinner that is out of the world!

Don't think we have any major Super Bowl plans at this point. Chris usually likes to watch big games in the privacy of his own home. He's weird like that. He just wants to be in his chair, holding on to his remote (with his hand down his pants). I think Tom Brady is so cute and I really hate Eli Manning (see previous posts regarding the fact that he can't hold a candle to his brother Peyton). However, there's no way I can root for the Patriots. No self-respecting New Yorker would ever cheer for a New England team (i.e, Boston Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, Patriots). Not gonna happen my friend. Go Giants!

Save the Whales

If I have to watch that bratty snot-nosed Hayden Panitierre sobbing about the whales one more time, I'm going to shoot myself in the eye with a bb gun. She was on E! tonight talking about how she's going to decide which candidate to vote for. I don't watch Heroes and after viewing Ms. Hayden on TV tonight, I never will. According to Hayden, she has "talked to Barack extensively about the whales and since he grew up in Hawaii, he has some pretty good ideas." Yes, she called the Presidental hopeful by his first name and apparently the most pressing issue in this little girl's world is the whales. Now, I love whales just as much as the next person (I'm actually hoping to see a few of these magnificent creatures while we're in Cabo), however, I expect a little bit more from my President. If I had 5 minutes alone w/ Hilary, Rudy, Barack et al, the last thing on my mind would be the whales. The war in Iraq? Sure. National healthcare? You bet. Social Security. Definately. Tax reform. Of course. Illegal immigrants? Naturally! Whales? WTF???? This is probably the first time Ms. Hayden P is voting in a major election and she decides to talk about whales? God help us if this if the future of our country. Rather than make change at home, these celebrities choose causes which will bring them international publicity. I'm sure George Clooney really does care about the people of Darfur. But what about the people at home? What about the people in Podunck, KY that bought tickets to Ocean's 11, 12 AND 13? They're the ones enabling you to gain global recognition for your humanitarian efforts. Same goes for you Ms. Oprah Winfrey. US citizens are the ones who buy your crappy magazine and watch you pontificate daily on your show. And how did you repay them? By building a school in Africa. Nice. What about the children living below the poverty line right here in America? The ones who only survive by eating the free meals at school? The ones who live in apartments or mobile homes w/ out heat? The ones w/ alcoholic or drug addicted parents? The ones who are on welfare and will be for the rest of their lives?

I will get off my soapbox now. Thank you for letting me vent.

I've got a lot of quotes to catch up today. They multiple like bunnies and before I know it, my in-box is full of them!

So last night it rained and rained which is a good thing. It was also the first night in a long, long time that all 4 of us were home at the same time. The power was out (I was the only one bummed because I was missing "Lost."). It was actually very nice and quiet; I had candles lit all over the house and we just sat and talked in the living room. I told Chris, "you asked for a relaxing night, you got it."

The joy is that we can take back our bodies, reclaim our health, and restore ourselves to balance. We can take power over what and how we eat. We can rejuvenate and recharge ourselves, bringing healing to the wounds we carry inside us, and bringing to fuller life the wonderful person that each of us can be. --John Robbins
I think my cable box upstairs was struck by lightening because it hasn't come back on. Charter Cable is near Chris's office so he unplugged everything and will take it in to see what happened. Don't know how I'm going to do laundry today. I always fold my laundry while I catch up on TiVo. Now what the hell am I going to do??? Oh well. No clean underwear for anyone.
Every day I gained more and more pleasure from this listening and looking, always seeing and hearing more clearly. As time went on, I appreciated how glorious and beautiful existence is, living. I saw how busy, preoccupied were most people with doing, making. Existence was already so much to enjoy, so grand and lovely, so exquisite. --Laurie Seagel
5 weeks and we leave for Cabo. I chose today, Febraury 1, to start my diet and exercise program because I will have 3 full days . . . today, Saturday & Sunday to walk on the treadmill w/out any interruptions. That's part of my problem .... inconsistency. I'll walk one day, then not have the opportunity again for 3 or 4 days and then I've lost interest. So, send me words of encouragement. I'd really like my ass to look cute on the beach this year. Chris, my other ass, always looks cute on the beach. ha! ha!

Good morning.
You must hang in there!

Speaking of vacations and stuff, my friend Jo just found out her husband qualified for a trip to Atlantis! I'm so excited for her. I love hearing about other people's travels and don't ya' just love it when the trip is free!!! She needs to start saving her money now and putting her extra change in a jar. That place is crazy expensive!
I saw on CNN.com last night that they are looking into "new" information regarding the Natalee Holloway case. Her poor, poor family. My heart goes out to them each time that young lady's name is mentioned. I can't even begin to imagine what they have gone thru these past couple of years.

The whole problem can be stated quite simply by asking, 'Is there a meaning to music?' My answer would be, 'Yes.' And 'Can you state in so many words what the meaning is?' My answer to that would be, 'No.' --Aaron Copeland
