Despite the chilly temps . . .

...Spring has sprung!  Well, inside my house at least! While I had the house all to myself, my goal this weekend was to get my Spring tablescape up.  Mission accomplished.

The two little birdies and topiary are new this year.  I picked them up at Michael's the other day.  I've had the vase for a while (Southern Living at Home, maybe??).

The tealight holders are also a new purchase this year.  I found them on One Kings Lane and instantly fell in love!

Spring Tablescape

Now, I'm not a professional like http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com/ or
http://vignettedesign.blogspot.com/ or http://www.classiccasualhome.com/
or http://tablescaping.blogspot.com/ but I do enjoy setting a lovely table and try to change with the seasons as much as I can. I change my table decor so often, I'm not even really sure what my "normal" / everyday centerpiece is.

Last year was the first time I tried to do a Spring theme. I wanted to start decorating right after Valentine's Day and it needed to be something that would stay appropriate until I changed over to my beach/summer tablescape. I knew I didn't want an Easter theme and I had seen some beautiful shabby chic/earthy/natural schemes I wanted to duplicate. I wanted it to be very natural, very green, kind of rustic. I wanted topiaries, succulents and nature accents. I wanted it to feel like you were dining al fresco. Here are a few photo inspirations:

I love doing the same themes over and over because I always add new pieces, move things around, try a different use for an item, etc. I like when the table sort of evolves and everything just falls into place. So now here's my finished version:

The crock in this photo is actually from a line of candles we carry in the gift shop at work and the burlap table runner was an Etsy find.
I love these Gail Pittman plates and am always on the look-out for pieces on e-Bay.

The birdcage candle holder and butterfly print are new this year and the plate with the bird's nest on it is an Earthborn piece made locally in Alabama http://earthbornpottery.net/newsite/

The choche is new as well and has a cute little snail sitting on top.

Fall Decor

Anyone who regularly reads my blog knows I luv, luv, luv this time of year! I love getting cozy and having candlelight EVERYWHERE. I luv the smells of autumn, the textures, the weather. I think this is the most perfect time of the year.

This weekend we did some of our outdoor decorating (hay bale, corn stalks, pumpkins, garden flag, etc.). I've got my autumnal dining room table complete and the kitchen is decorated for fall (pumpkins & scarecrows on the baker's rack) and Bucs football season (lots of black & orange & white -- polka dot plates, checked cloth napkins, serving dishes shaped like footballs). I have a little Alabama tableau in the foyer (lots of houndstooth and photos of the family from various Alabama games in Tide frames and a couple of Bear Bryant quotes on distressed wood and, of course, a Bear Bryant hat). The family room has scary Halloween decorations. The scary stuff will come down after Halloween and Thanksgiving will go in it's place.

One of my favorite blogs, The Tablescaper, always posts GORGEOUS photos and I love getting some inspiration from her (I'm assuming it's a female!). http://thetablescaper.blogspot.com/. We have very similar tastes in dishes and table decor and I like using what I have on hand and putting my own spin on it.
