"Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather."   ~  John Ruskin

I love the rain.  I really do.  It's a good thing too because it has rained A LOT this summer.  I read somewhere that Birmingham has only had a handful of days that reached the 90's this summer.  And I'm OK with that!

Weird, Wet Wonderful Sunday

Favorite Day of the Week!  And it's pouring to boot!  Yay!  Love a good, relaxing Sunday!  And, let's not forget, Vikings season finale tonight on the History Channel!  Such a great show!  Hate that the season is over but it has been renewed!

Finished reading "Wedding Night" by Sophie Kinsella (eh; definitely not my favorite Kinsella book).  Started reading "Paris" by Edward Rutherford (he's not following his usual formula and that's OK!).

The Hoover Varsity lax team is spanking Oak Mountain as I type in play-offs.  I went to the Spain Park game the other night and we lost (thus ending our undefeated season) so I think I'm the bad luck charm.  I'll just stay away from now on.  I'm good with that.

My parents are here and today (in the pouring rain!) my dad planted all my flowers for me since I have a black thumb.  His "yuppie" granddaughter helped him for a little bit but the rain got to be too much for her.  The two of them also painted my mail box and the post on Saturday.  Good, quality grandparent/grandchild bonding time.

T was at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville this weekend for a fraternity prom.  She's texted a few times and sounds like they had a good time.

It's OK Thursday

It's OK . . .

Its Ok Thursdays
...to intensely dislike Taylor Swift and her music.
...to find Taylor Swift's relationship with the Kennedy kid incredibly creepy.
...that my girl has been away at college for a week already!  Seriously.  It's OK.  She's loving every minute of it!
...to have slowly started to decorate for Fall.
...to love all this rain we've had.  Luv it!  Luv it!  Luv it!
...to be excited that our Ole Miss football tickets came in the mail!  Hotty Toddy!
...that I hated the last book I read ("Seating Arrangements").  I'm now on to Emily Giffin's "Where We Belong."
...that Prince Harry had a good time in Vegas!  Go Harry!  Go Harry!

Dreary Couple of Days

I guess the weather really does affect people's outlook. Yesterday almost every one in the office had on black or gray or a combination thereof.

I've got tons of laundry to do, tons of packing to do and I'm also trying to make a dent in my Christmas shopping. I can't believe we're almost to Thanksgiving and shortly after that is December 1! Thank God for on-line shopping (particularly Ebay and Etsy!). T has given me a couple of good ideas but so far KJ hasn't mentioned anything she wants or needs. She just got new cowboy boots for her birthday, she's got a fairly new phone, she's got a camera, she's got a flip video camera and she's got an iPod. Other than clothes, I don't think there is anything else she needs. T will need a laptop to take off to college but said she'd rather wait until her July birthday so it's the most current, up-to-date laptop on the market. And she definately doesn't want any dorm stuff just yet. Both girls luv, luv, luv gift cards but I feel like we did that for their birthdays.

Had a great meeting yesterday w/ T's college advisor. She suggested two great Communication schools that we hadn't thought of. T sat down last night and applied to one; need to think a little on the other one. Right now she's 3 for 3. Applied to 3, accepted at all 3. We'll see what happens. Quite honestly, I'm getting a little tired of it all and while I don't wish it was over because that would mean she's away at college, I just wish all this paperwork and other stuff would disappear.
