Here Come the Boom !

Had such a great day yesterday!  The weather was absolutely spectacular!  It was almost 95 degrees here with nothing but beautiful, blue, clear skies.

I had an appointment to pick-up my new contacts (prescription is still not right so I came home wearing my regular ol' glasses), got a pedicure, ran some errands, got a haircut, spent some time in Ulta, picked up a few things at Trader Joe's and bought a bottle of my new favorite wine at World Market (liquor laws are so weird here -- no beer or wine in grocery stores yet the World Market in Rockville carries wine.  The Trader Joe's a couple of doors down does not).

Last night KJ's travel vball team had their end of year party and celebrated w/ a Dads vs. Daughters game.  The dads were too funny and did all the cheers and A.C.E. things the girls do.  The moms visited with each other and it was very nice for me to chat and get to know some of the moms a little better.  As a matter of fact, a couple of the moms are going to a boot camp tomorrow night as a group.  Should be interesting!

I had a wonderful Mother's Day even though it was spent in the gym.  KJ had her very last volleyball tournament Sunday and did great as always.  She had to be on the court at 7:15 AM and the gym was almost an hour from our house.  Who does that?  Who schedules a volleyball tournament on Mother's Day?  KJ gave me two beautiful Alex and Ani bangles http://www.alexandani.com and T sent me an "I love you" charm necklace with my initial on a small disc.  My sweet Godson sent me a beautiful basket of flowers to brighten my day, too!

Nothing major planned for this weekend.  The pool guys opened up our pool today so I think we'll just hang around and do some yard work.  I need to wash all of my summer plastic table ware so we can dine al fresco.  We need to get our patio seat cushions out of storage and set what kind of condition they are in.  May have to buy new ones.

It's OK Thursday

Another week, another "It's OK Thursday!"

It's OK . . .

Its Ok Thursdays

...that my daughter has officiallly, successfully completed her freshman year of college!
...I haven't watched this much hockey / New York Rangers in years.
...that I have admitted defeat and hired a housekeeper.
...to be really, really looking forward to my annual "Mother's Day French Toast in Bed" this weekend!
...to be happy the hockey-playing brothers won Amazing Race!  I intensely disliked the smug newlyweds.  He was a total putz.
...to love when my husband travels and he comes home bearing gifts!!
...that I saw the craziest thing the other day while driving to work!  A car was drifting in and out of my lane.  I immediately thought the driver was texting.  Nope.  She had her eyes shut tight and was spraying hairspray!

Happy Mother's Day

Despite the rain, I had a wonderful, adventurous Mother's Day!  Cosmo and the girls woke me up with breakfast in bed, mimosas, a dozen GORGEOUS roses and a gift card to Barnes & Noble so I can load up my Nook and then we were off to our Zip Line adventure at the Red Mountain Park!  It was rainy and muddy but that kind of added to the overall experience.  I think the rain helped keep the heat down and the bugs away. We were so muddy we had to stop at Old Navy on the way home and buy some cheap flip-flops so we could grab a bite to eat without muddying up the restaurant.  Now the girls and I are trying to think of something fun & exciting for Father's Day!  The girls are thinking bungee jumping but let's be honest.  The Cos girls like adventure while Cosmo kind of likes to keep his feet on the ground.  Zip lining was fun but I don't see BASE or bungee jumping in my husband's near or immediate future.

Last night was the Alabama / Mississippi All-Star Showcase.  Cosmo didn't coach either game last night but he and KJ helped iHigh.com with the broadcast of both games.  KJ filmed and Cosmo commentated.  Then, T ran the video for the boys game (KJ did a great job with the girls game but got a little nervous filming the boys game....it's a little faster and she had a hard time keeping up with camera).  The rain held out for most of the girls game but was an absolute deluge for the entire boys game.  T-bone was recognized as an All-State selection for the 3rd straight year and scored 5 goals last night.  She went out with a bang.  I couldn't take the rain any longer and left after half-time and the All-American announcements.  So incredibly proud of Z!  He truly, truly deserves the honor.

Zippity-Do-Dah

Took down my Spring table decor and packed everything away until next year.  Started working on my Summer beach-themed table.  This is one of my favorites because the dining room is painted a nice blue and the dishes and accessories compliment the color very well.

Got some Spring cleaning done today while I was in the dining room . . . mopped all the hardwoods and took down the sheers to wash and hang back up.  I also need to do that in the family room and our bedroom.

So, these Senior Year "lasts" are totally killing me.  Monday night was the band banquet and Thursday night was the Dance Showcase.  Probably the last time T will ever dance on stage again.  It was very bittersweet and the senior dance was very beautiful.  I cried really bad and just couldn't stop hugging her afterward.  One of the mom's sitting in front of me was there to watch her son's girlfriend and she turned around, took one look at me & T and starting boo-hoo-ing, too.  The son plays lax w/ Cosmo and the mom said she didn't think she'd be this emotional.

Tonight is the Alabama / Mississippi All-Star Showcase and at half time of each game they will announce the players that are recognized by US Lacrosse as "All-State."  Hopefully, Cosmo will have an extra special presentation to make during the half-time of the boys game.  He has a player that has been nominated for All-American.  It is a HUGE deal.  There have ever been only two lacrosse All-Americans for the state of Alabama (Brye for athletics and Jeremey for academics; Brye is now the captain of the Naval Academy football team).  All-American is the player who exemplifies all the best qualities of the sport.  I know Cosmo already knows if the kid got it or not and he's not saying.  I hope he did.  He's a very special young man and is a leader on and off the field.

This may or may not be my last blog post ever.  I may not survive the Mother's Day activities my family has planned for me.  If it's not raining, the plan is to go zip-lining.  If it rains, I'd really like to see the Avengers and have a big bucket of popcorn.

It's OK ...
Its Ok Thursdays

...that T-Bone picked up her cap and gown yesterday.  And the graduation announcements have been mailed.  Really.  It's OK.

...that a co-worker sanctimoniously told me she'd never read "50 Shades of Gray" because books about sex are gross and inappropriate.  Hmmm....same co-worker who had an extremely loud, hour-long conversation the other morning with her husband about why she wouldn't have sex with him the night before.  Trust me.  It was pretty graphic, gross and inappropriate for the workplace.
...that my 12 year old likes to sleep with me when Cosmo is out of town.  It's kind of nice.  Kind of.  Except she's a loud sleep-talker.

....to not have slept well the last couple of nights (see above).  I guess I can sleep when I'm dead.

...to have completely and totally confiscated hubby's new car.  I think he's driven it just a handful of times.  He's so good to me and has finally admitted I look so damn cute in that car!!!

....that people have waited until the very last minute to buy their Mother's Day gifts and are now calling in a panic for gift cards.  C'mon people.  Get it together!
