And the Chick has Left the Nest

So quiet in our house this past weekend.  T flew back to Oxford on Saturday.  She is certainly racking up the Southwest frequent flyer miles!  Pony Boy met her at the airport and they had ribs at Rendevouz.  She's got CA training this week and classes start next week.  Ole Miss has a crazy long winter break.  She said she had a really good time while she was home and got to do a lot . . . New York City, DC a couple of times, drag queen brunch, etc.

KJ's got finals this week.  She is doing so incredibly well this year.  Freshman year has been great!  I'm very, very proud of her.  She's worked hard and has taken her classes and school work very seriously and has stayed on top of her grades.  She had her English exam this morning and texted me me she's "very confident" in her exam and her final grade in that class.  She's got a volleyball tournament this weekend and lax is starting up soon.  That should be interesting.  She's going to be exhausted but in a good way.

Got all my Christmas stuff packed and put away this weekend.  This year took a little longer than usual but I re-packed some things, threw some things away, etc.  And Cosmo put all of my Valentine's Day stuff in the front of my decorating room so that I can access it easily next month.

It's OK Thursday (Valentine's Day Edition)

...It's OK that KJ opened her Valentine's Day Gifts last night.  She needed to pack some of them for her DC trip.
...It's OK that I received a Justin Beiber Valentine's Day card from a co-worker.  It has a cool "I Heart Justin" tattoo!
...It's OK that I forgot to mail my niece and nephew's cards (I'm lying.  It's really not OK).
...It's OK that Cosmo's and KJ's cards are sitting on the counter.  Not filled out yet.
...It's OK that I obviously have become really bad and giving cards.  I buy them, just forget to mail them or give them.
...It's OK I had to text T and ask her what the heck was a Harlem Shake.
...It's OK that I bought the Alabama Shakes CD and the Florence + the Machine CD.  More than OK.  Both are great albums!
...It's OK to still use the word "album" isn't it???
...It's OK that I am now officially hooked on Duck Dynasty.
...It's OK that I've lived in the South for 14 years and am slooooowwwwllllly beginning to accept some things Southern -- I find myself using the phrase "Bless her Heart" more and more, I like Duck Dynasty, the show "Nashville" (and the soundtrack!) and the other night I had a dream that Blake Shelton (no Miranda in sight) was sitting across the table from me at a friends wedding.
...It's OK that I will never like Sweet Tea.  I just can't.  When I drink it, I can just feel my teeth rotting out of my head.

Hearts

Having problems uploading photos to my blog today. My laptop is jacked up so I'm on Cosmo's computer and he's got my files and stuff all over the place -- removable drives, flash drives, etc. I can't find anything!

Here is a sampling of the dining room decor this Valentine's Day. You may recognize the table runner from a previous post. Someone posted a photo of it on Pinterest and I immediately fell in love. When it came time to order it, the runner was on sale for $20 (normally $50-something). It was just meant to be!! The red champagne glasses I've had for years and years and the large red vase I bought two Christmas's ago for the family room mantle. The red salad/dessert plates I've had for years as well and drag them out for Christmas and 4th of July, too.

Here is a phoot of the sweet Valentine's Day decor I rec'd as part of my Pink Swap! It looks PERFECT in the kitchen on the baker's rack! The pink, red & white gourmet jellybeans are in a heart shaped dish on one of the end tables in the family room. Unfortunately, T has picked out all the red ones so all that's left are pink and white!
This is a photo of the kitchen table. It's actually been changed a bit since I took this photo. The big striped platter in the middle has been moved to the kitchen island and replaced with a big red heart-shaped bowl. The silver placemats were bought this past Christmas for the dining room snowflake theme over the holidays and I've had the red plates and pink napkins for years (I think the napkins were part of a set I rec'd as either a wedding gift or a shower gift along w/ some pink & white casual placemats). The rag garland in the background was an Etsy find from a couple of years ago.

Countdown to V-Day

Still have some Christmas decorations to put away but it's never to early to start thinking about my Valentine's Day decor.

Love this dessert table! I do something very similar on the kitchen island for Christmas, Valentine's Day and Easter. I have a couple of these apocarthery jars and use them for jelly beans, peppermints, red hots, etc.

Obsessed with this table runner! So clean and contemporary and simple. Would look amazing with plain white, square dishes.

While this bedroom doesn't exactly scream "Valentine's Day," I love the red and pink accent pillows and those bird cages are so unusual!

And as far as I'm concerned, you can never have too much glitter! Glitter on!
