And the Winner is . . . .

Kendall's teacher letter finally arrived in today's mail! She is very very happy to have Mrs. Sunday as her second grade teacher! Hip! Hip! Hooray! Not sure who else is in her class, though. She's only been calling other girls to find out who they have. She absolutely REFUSES to call any boys.

T-Bone Update

T's having a wonderful time. Monday was spent in the Magic Kingdom. Today they are at MGM. She called while she was standing on line for Aerosmith's Rockin' Rollercoaster. It was very noisy so I didn't have a chance to ask if they had been on the Tower of Terror yet. We didn't speak with her last night because she said they didn't get back to the hotel until 1:30 AM. There's a "High School Musical" Pep Rally this afternoon they plan to check out.

Tonight is my first official cheerleading practice of the season. Wish me luck!! I'm gonna need it! 15 little girls and Me!!! YIKES!!! Go Hoover!

All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. Walt Disney

Taylor's in the Magic Kingdom today. She called around 8:30 AM Central time to ask what her little sis would like for a souvenir . . . something from High School Musical, something w/ Tinkerbelle on it? Perhaps something from Pirates of the Carribean? Taylor's having a great time. Yesterday they had lunch at Hooters and walked around Downtown Disney last night. Kendall asked me 10 times yesterday if she could call Taylor; she's finally admitted that she misses her sister and loves her. Wow!! What a breakthru!!!

All the adversity I've had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me... You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you. Walt Disney

"I won't eat any cereal that doesn't turn the milk purple." -- Bill Watterson (my kind of guy!) This quote explains my daily fascination with Lucky Charms!

Chris is on his way home from Asheville, NC. Not sure how today's game(s) turned out but yesterday they won 1, lost 1 in 3 overtimes and then lost the last one. Better luck next year Magic City!

Spoke w/ T late last night. They made it to Ellie's aunt's house in Tallahasse safe & sound (they had pizza for dinner and swam in her pool). They stopped on their way to Tallahasse at some caverns in FL and had lunch and did some hiking. Today they drive to Orlando and plan to have dinner somewhere in Downtown Disney. Tomorrow they hit the Magic Kingdom!

KJ & I have no major plans today. My friend Patti called (she lives down the street but I don't think we've seen each other since New Years!) and we'll meet her at the pool for a little bit. It's hot as hell here today.

Poor Kendall. Friday and Saturday she waited at the mailbox to see if her teacher's letter came in the mail. No such luck. Maybe Monday or Tuesday. She's just dying to know who her teacher is and who is in her class.

Hairspray the Movie

OK! So tonight Kendall & I went to see "Hairspray" w/ friends. What an awesome movie! Kendall and Lauren were dancing in their seats, singing along, snapping their fingers. Everytime John Travolta came on screen Jo & I were screaming with laughter. I will definately buy this movie when it comes out on DVD and Kendall really, really wants the soundtrack on CD. We had SOOO much fun. One of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time.

All is Quiet on the Friday Front

“Your hair may be brushed, but your mind's untidy. You've had about seven hours of sleep since Friday. No wonder you feel that lost sensation. You're sunk from a riot of relaxation.” -- Ogden Nash (American Writer of humorous poetry who won a large following for his audacious verse. 1902-1971)

Here's a pic of the girls with Aunt Lynn during her quick visit to the Alabama border! Ha! Ha! Lynn is visiting her son & daughter-in-law in Atlanta so we met her for lunch today. Since T had a baby-sitting gig this evening (and is leaving for Disney in the wee hours of the AM) and Chris left late this afternoon for the Bele Chere lax tournament (aka Belly Cherry), we didn't have much time to get together. It's always good to see family, though!

So, the house will be quiet next week w/ one child away. T's really excited about this trip and has had her suitcase packed for over a week now. KJ and I will go see Hairspray one day while everyone's gone. She also wants to see the Simpson's movie (Spider Pig, Spider Pig). I'd like to see Harry Potter. I'm sure while the big sister is away, Kendall will fill her days w/ swimming and her evenings w/ sleep-overs.

Have a Great Weekend! TGIF!!

Our Own Pinocchio !

Sort of like Pinocchio, Taylor has finaly turned into a "real" girl! After registration today we did some school clothes shopping and hurray!!! She now fits into a pair of size "00" jeans. Still a little big in the waist but she can wear a belt. She's so psyched!!! She's FINALLY out of Justice & Limited Too!! Size double zero jeans but she wears a size 8 1/2 shoe. What a freak.

8th Grade Registration

OMG!!! Where has the time gone? Seems like only yesterday we were moving to Hoover from Cincy and I was registering T for kindergarten (I'll never forget the first day of Kindergarten -- the school bus never showed up and Chris had to rush Taylor down to the school so she wouldn't be late her very first day)! Can't believe she's an 8th grader! We were at the high school earlier this week for KJ's cheer clinic when it hit me . . . this time next year we'll be doing freshman orientation and stuff like that. Today we have 8th grade registration (we pay for her yearbook, activity card, put money in her lunch account, she gets her schedule, her locker assignment, etc.). She's been up at the school since 9:30 AM with friends so she already knows what hall she's on and who's in her homeroom.

Last night KJ & I watched a bunch of old home videos. Trips to NY and PA for Christmas (one of my favorite Christmas memories was making snow angels in the parking lot of the hotel in Knoxville, TN), soccer games, pre-school musicals, cheering at football games, etc. Kendall's voice was so cute when she was little and she had the chubbiest cheeks.

So anyhoo, that's my trip down memory lane for today!

Hump Day

P.O.W. Camp (oops! I mean Cheerleading Camp!!) is over with! Two evenings of leg kicks, arm swings and hours and hours of Hannah Montana songs. Torture I tell ya!! Torture!! Instead of Yoga Booty Ballet DVD's or Billy Banks Bootcamp workouts, someone should do a cheerleading workout.

Tylenol PM's kicked in just nicely thankyouverymuch. Slept like a baby.

M.E. spent the night; poor thing has a staph infection on her foot and is on crutches.

Every time I look out the window it's dark and looks like it's going to rain any minute. Don't think we'll be heading to the pool today.

Taylor leaves for Disney on Saturday AM. She's very, very excited. Chris leaves for Asheville, NC Friday night for a men's lax tournament. Just me & KJ this weekend. She wants to see Hairspray. Chris's sister Lynn will be in Atlanta this weekend; trying to figure out a day/time to get together for a bit. Haven't seen Lynn since August '06.

Have a great Wednesday! The weekend is in sight!

Day 2 of Youth Cheer Clinic

"Next time someone tells you cheerleading is easy, tell them to do your routine and then get back to you." Author Tif Tif, USA

I am physically exhausted this evening. My feet hurt from my sneakers and my arms & legs are sore from dancing & cheering. The girls did a great job tonight in front of all their family & friends. I was very proud of them. We had a great group of Hoover Cheerleaders teach us our chants & cheers and the half-time dance. They were very patient w/ the younger ones.

Good night! I'm taking a couple of Tylenol PM's and hope to be in la-la land soon. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Party 'til You're Purple! (and I Like Purple!)

Tuesday morning and I think we've just about hit rock bottom. I think we've all had just about enough summer. I think the girls have had a tad too much Purple in their lives lately and need to just relax a bit. The other night T-bone didn't feel good and told her friend to go home. Last night KJ had one of her headaches at a friends house and called at 10:30 PM for us to come pick her up. Until this week, my girls have NEVER, EVER turned down a sleep-over. They have never passed up the opportunity to go Purple. What gives? Last night I couldn't sleep a wink. At 4 AM I moved to the guest room. At 8 AM I came back downstairs. After all that cheering & dancing I did last night I should have been EXHAUSTED. Oh well. There's always tonight.

Day 1 of Youth Cheer Clinic

Holy cow! Every muscle in my body is screaming w/ pain!!! Tonight I used parts of my body I haven't used in a long time (ha! ha!). If anyone ever says cheerleading isn't a "sport," I'll knock 'em out!

Go Hoover!!

Monday has Hit

Other than a dimple in a cute little chin,
What's more adorable than a toothless grin?

~Azu "Betty" Espezia

Yay! Kendall lost a tooth last night. It had been wiggling for a couple of days but during last night's spaghetti with pesto sauce dinner, it came right out! At last weeks orthodontist appointment they took an x-ray and she really doesn't have many baby teeth left.

The BamaLax All-stars brought home the bronze medal from this weekend's Georgia Games. He's got a great group of guys on this team and although they're from different high schools, they play the game very well together.

Taylor is feeling much better this morning. Maybe she'll actually get out of her pajama's today.

Supposed to rain a bit over the next couple of days. I hope so! You know how I like to spend dreary, gloomy days snuggled on the couch with a good book!

What a difference 5 years makes!

Found these pictures the other day and laughed outloud when I printed them and put them in chronological order. Same hotel at the beach, just 5 years later. Same restaurant, too! We've been going to this hotel since we moved south and I was pregnant w/ Kendall. We're either really, really boring or just very consistent! Anyway, it's amazing how much the girls have changed but have stayed the same. Taylor is still the quiet, sane one; KJ is the wacky, pain in the ass one! Love them both, though!!!

Sunday Morning Musings

"Early morning cheerfulness can be extremely obnoxious." -- William Feather

"Take everything you like seriously, except yourselves." -- Rudyard Kipling (1865 - 1936)

"You're as old as you behave." -- Harvey Mackay

As always, I had company last night while Chris was away. I'm not sure if she thinks she doing ME a huge favor or what, but Kendall INSISTS on sleeping with me everytime Chris goes out of town. After the Little One woke up this morning, the Big Sister decided SHE wanted to lay in bed with me for a while. Taylor is not feeling too well this morning. She had a friend sleep over last night and actually told the friend to go home because she wasn't feeling too hot. Fortunately, it was Kelsey and she just walked thru the backyard to get to her house. It's now 11 AM and Taylor is still asleep in my bed.

So now we're all anxiously awaiting Chris's return from the Georgia Games. They won one game yesterday but lost the second in over time. Today's game was to determine the bronze winner.

Busy week coming up . . . Monday & Wednesday T has hop-hop class. Monday & Tuesday Kendall & I have cheer clinic at the high school to learn some cheers and our half-time routine for the upcoming football season. Taylor also has middle school registration and she leaves for her Florida trip bright & early Saturday morning. School starts August 9. Less than 3 weeks. As Kendall says, "she's still got a lot of summer yet to do!!!"

Forgot to Post Friday at the Pool Pics

Happy Birthday Margaret!!!

Have a Great Saturday!

When you're young, you should live out every weekend. Even if you look like a scarecrow, you just gotta go!
Jonathan Brandis

Chris left bright & early this morning for the GA Games. The girls and I were supposed to go with him but he took pity on our sleepy souls at 6 AM and told us to stay snuggled in our beds. He's such a good dad! Kendall, of course, was upset this morning and said she wanted to go to ATL w/ her dad. Naturally!!! Didn't expect anything less from her! Our neighborhood is sponsoring a party at the pool today w/ blow-up slides, bouncy things, etc. I'll take her down there later this afternoon and she'll be just fine. Maybe we'll go to the movies tonight and see "Hairspray."

Have a wonderful, wonderful Saturday. Relax. Monday will be here before we know it! YIKES!!

Pics of Magster & KJ

Found this picture of Maggie & Kendall from their pre-school days (I'm pretty sure this was in the 2-year old class). Now look at them! All growed up, having sleep-overs and make-overs!

Chris & The BamaLax All-Stars are headed to Atlanta Saturday to participate in the Georgia Games. Good luck guys! Show those boys how we do it Bama-style!!!

Even though it's Float in the Pool Friday (not to be confused w/ Toes in the Sand Tuesday), I am very tired and a little cranky. I like the new mattress but last night I just could not fall asleep. My mind was racing (what else is new??). The dog & I tried to sleep on the couch but I tossed and turned all night. At 6:30 this morning a neighbor let their dog out and he barked FOREVER. I went back to my hubby and 60 seconds after I laid my head on my new tempur-pedic pillow, his alarm went off!!! AAAGGGH!!! After spending today w/ friends at the pool and being in the sun, I'm sure I'll sleep good tonight!
