Last night I took T shopping for bathing suits for Spring Break. It went very, very well. Usually we disagree on bathing suits and the amount of coverage (or lack thereof) but last night I liked almost every one she tried on. She ended up buying 3 new suits with some of the gift cards she got for Christmas. She has a couple of suits from last year, too.
She had lax practice last night and I stuck around for a few minutes. It was the first time I got to see some of the new girls. A lot of seniors graduated last year and I think there were only 4 or 5 returning girls. Looks like a very, very nice group of girls this year. No divas. No drama queens. They may not be the most naturally athletic girls but I think they'll do just fine.
This morning on the Today Show they had a baby born by c-section live from Boston. Super cute baby (unfortunately I didn't catch his name). He was a big baby, 10 lbs., 20 3/4". However, KJ was bigger: she was 10 lbs. 2 oz. and 22" long. T was 9 lbs. 10 oz. and 22 1/2" long. I'll never forget when T was born, all the nurses on the night shift came in to see me and every single one of them told me she was "the biggest baby in the nursery" at that time. When KJ was born she was having problems breathing and they also thought she had throat / stomach issues so was whisked away to NICU. She was so big, she looked like a 3-month old and all the parents of the little itty bitty preemies kept looking at her like, "what in the world is this baby doing in here???" Of course, she was just as sick as the preemies and it was so upsetting....we hadn't been living here very long, barely knew anyone, had no family or friends with us in the hospital and I barely got to hold her when she was first born. As a matter of fact, Chris escorted her to NICU and I was left alone in surgery as they stitched me up.
Oscar nominations were announced this morning. I don't think it's a surprise to anyone that Avatar and the Blind Side racked up some noms (I haven't seen either movie yet). I'd also like to see Hurt Locker (which was directed?? produced?? by one of James Cameron's ex-wives). Actually, I haven't seen any of the Best Picture nominations except "Up" (category includes: Avatar, The Blind Side, District 9, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Inglourious Basterds, Precious, A Serious Man, Up, UP in the Air). Guess I better get my butt to the movie theater.
