Yesterday's list was September movies, today is October releases:
October 4
Joker
Joaquin Phoenix tackles the titular role of Gotham City's most infamous villain. Set in 1981, the Todd Phillips-directed thriller serves as an origin story that chronicles Arthur Fleck's journey from stand-up comedian to criminal.
Pain and Glory
A film director (Antonio Banderas) is forced to look back at his life decisions during a decline in his career.
The Current War
Thomas Edison (Benedict Cumberbatch), George Westinghouse (Michael Shannon), and Nikola Tesla (Nicholas Hoult) work tirelessly to determine whose electrical system will power the modern world.
October 11
Gemini Man
When an aging government assassin (Will Smith) comes face-to-face with his younger clone, he must discover the reason behind his sudden emergence.
The Addams Family
The spooky family returns in an all-new animated adventure. Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Finn Wolfhard, and Oscar Isaac voice the ghoulish family members, while Allison Janney and Tituss Burgess also star.
Zombieland: Double Tap
Set 10 years after the breakout of the zombie apocalypse, Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson), Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone), and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) return to battle the undead in the sequel to the 2009 comedy cult classic. I haven't seen the first Zombieland movie but I would like to see Double Tap so I'll need to catch up on the first one first.
Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
Midnight movie icons Jay and Silent Bob return to stop Hollywood from producing a reboot of the film Bluntman and Chronic. Please refer to yesterday's post about Stiffler.
October 18
Maleficent: Mistress of Evil
The relationship between Queen Aurora (Elle Fanning) and Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) proves challenging as a new threat arises. Michelle Pfeiffer joins the cast in the sequel to the 2014 hit. The trailer for this looks pretty good. I'd go see this.
Jojo Rabbit
Set during World War II, a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis) discovers his mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a Jewish girl in the attic. This could be the greatest movie ever produced but being released the same day as Maleficent is going to hurt it at the box office.
The Lighthouse
Director Robert Eggers (The Witch) makes his highly anticipated second-outing with Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe starring as two lighthouse keepers that begin to lose their sanity in the face of solitude. Rob Pattinson looks almost unrecognizable in the press photos. Far cry from his Twilight days.
October 25
Black and Blue
When a rookie policewoman (Naomie Harris) is witness to fellow cops committing a corrupt murder, she quickly realizes who is on her side.
The Last Full Measure
A Vietnam war hero receives a military honor for his bravery out on the battlefield. Samuel L. Jackson, Peter Fonda, Ed Harris, Bradley Whitford, and Sebastian Stan star.
