Saturday morning

Nice morning so far, a little cool but fairly sunny. Chris let me & KJ sleep until 9 AM (T went to the movies and a spent the night at a friends so of course KJ wouldn't sleep upstairs by herself, she spent the night on the couch). We went to the 5th grade pancake breakfast at Applebees. They're trying to raise money for their Dauphin Island trip this Spring. It was so nice seeing friends and neighbors. I can be a serious homebody but when we do get out I love socializing. I love running into people I know; it makes me feel like part of the community. Anyway, after the breakfast we registered the girls for Softball at the Met. Ran into lots of people there, too. A couple of dad's grabbed Chris to talk lax, congratulate him on Tampa, said they saw an article in the paper, is it too late to register their son/daughter, blah, blah, blah.

Every time I turn around I see an Christmas decoration I failed to put away. So I've still got some work ahead of me today.

T just called; she going to the Summit w/ friends. She has such a social life at 13, what am I going to do when she starts driving? We'll never see her.

A Vera Bradley store just opened at the Summit, I'm sure it's beautiful. I like the black, white & yellow print that just came out for the Spring. I think it's called "Yellow Bird."

So, as I've posted before, I don't really "do" New Year's Resolutions. I always end up breaking them by January 3 or 4. This year, however, I am going to try to do 2 things: drink more water and try to live a more artistic life. Well, actually 3 things. I'd like to entertain/socialize more. Anyway, getting back to the artistic life. We all know I am the least artistic person on the planet. What I'm talking about it making my home and the world around me more beautiful. Seeing things / looking at things differently. Trying to see the beauty in everything. Especially the small things. I'm going to try to live my life like a Vera Bradley advertisement. Eat on the "good" china more often, wear cute little outfits when I go boating or bicycling (who am I kidding??). Seriously, you know what I mean. I need to live a little more, adopt a gracious lifestyle. That type of thing.

i so love the idea of living a life like a vera bradley ad. love love love it!! i've always had this dream of having a laundry room like the ones you see on laundry detergent commercials. big, bright, clean, white, happy!! it is good to try to make our life and spaces bright and happy and i think you'll look very cute in your boating/bicycling attire. :)

I am trying to keep myself from making the unneccary purchase of a curvy tote bag. I really have no reason to buy it - except for that I want it.
