No Good Deed Goes UnDone
Did a good deed yesterday while KJ & I were in the checkout line at Target. The lady in front of us was having difficulties with her credit card, tried to pay in cash and realized she didn't have enough cash. She was less than $2 short. She was fumbling around in her purse looking for change and the poor thing was just frazzled and mortified. You know that feeling you get when you know you're holding up the line and everyone behind you is huffing and puffing? I had $1 in my wallet. That's it. One lonely dollar. I never have cash on me and the big joke is "if I can't use my Discover card, I'm not able to pay for it." So I offered her my $1. She just looked at me kind of funny, took the $1 and said, "Happy New Year." I don't know if I embarrassed her or offended her but that was certainly not my intent. Anyway, it wasn't a big deal. It was a $1. But maybe she'll pay it forward.
